About Education Services

Schoolhouse Education services is divided into four separate service "Areas".  It serves as the district's clearinghouse for all educational services and programs. 

Each Area has a Director responsible for administering various district-wide programs and services. 

Below is a brief overview of the roles and responsibilities of each area, but here's a detailed listing of each Area's services.


 

Area 1 - Special Education

Area 1 is responsible for the administration of the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), Section 504, District Counseling Services, District Nursing Services, and the Homeschool Program.  She also oversees all psychological services in our district, as well as other specialized services. Area 2 - Assessments, Grants, and Accountability

Area 2 is responsible for the development and monitoring of various local, state, and federal grants, as well as state and local assessment and ensures that our district is compliant with all state and federal reporting requirements as well.  If you are reading a report about our district, chances are this Area produced it.  You can reach this Area by phone at 775-782-5160.

Area 3 & 4 - Curriculum and Instruction

Areas 3 and 4 covers the vast area of curriculum and instruction for our district, as well as a host of other services such as Summer School, the Douglas County Parent Advisory Council, Safety Team, Gifted and Talented, and Homeschooling to name a few.  If you are a parent, this is most likely the department you will contact to get your questions answered.  You can reach this Area by phone at 775-782-7170 or 775-782-7179.
