Superintendent's Office

Thank you for your interest in the Douglas County School District! We are excited to share with you the wonderful things our District has to offer. Please peruse our website and feel free to contact us directly with any questions or concerns.

Douglas County School District is situated in one of the most beautiful valleys in the State at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the Carson Valley. We proudly serve the communities of Minden, Genoa, Lake Tahoe from Stateline to Glenbrook, and Gardnerville. Our schools serve just over 6000 students from Pre-K through Adult. We offer an environment that is nurturing, rich in rigorous instruction and STEM activities, and committed to providing our students with the knowledge and skills each will need to be able to achieve excellence.

The Mission of our District is to ensure that all students achieve excellence in education, character and citizenship, in partnership with parents and community. The District has defined six goals through our Strategic Plan to work toward supporting our Mission. They may be viewed under the Board of Trustees link on the District's homepage and are:

  • Implement a Rigorous and Relevant Curriculum
  • Ensure Excellence in Instruction
  • Utilize Assessments and Data to Monitor and Measure Growth and Achievement
  • Maintain Positive Climate and Culture for Safe and Nurturing Learning Environments
  • Incorporate Parent and Community Partnerships
  • Create and Implement Effective and Efficient Systems

The educators and support staff within our District are committed to the work of supporting our young people in their educational pursuits. We recognize the importance of the role of family and friends in achieving our goal and encourage your active participation and feedback regarding our programs. Together, we can provide every young person in our valley with the skills and support each will need to lead us into the future.
