Testing Forms

GT Testing Information

Referrals for gifted and talented testing may be made by school staff members, parents, or students. Referral forms are available at school sites and on our District website. A review process of submitted referral forms will be conducted by the gifted and talented teachers and the Executive Director of Educational Services, Area 4.

  • Students in second through sixth grades are eligible to be assessed for the Gifted and Talented Program in the Douglas County School District.
  • A permission to test must be signed by the parent/guardian and returned to GT teacher at the school.
  • Testing will occur in the fall of each school year.
  • Students referred to the Gifted and Talented Program shall be assessed using the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) online (Verbal Battery, Quantitative Battery and Non-Verbal Battery).

Students must have the proper referrals and permissions to test signed before the testing dates in order to be tested. Parents will be notified in writing of their child's test results.

Admission in to the program is automatic and immediate following notification of qualification. If your child qualifies for the Gifted and Talented Program, the GT teacher will be in touch to schedule an intake conference with you.  Any questions, please contact the GT teacher assigned to that school, their contact information is located on the main GT page.
